PICS has appointed a new Medical Director (MD), Dr Neil Fraser. Neil will be taking up his new post in October, working alongside current MD Dr Kelvin Lim until December.
Neil trained at the medical school in Leicester with positions across the midlands, qualifying as a GP in 2007 and working as GP partner at a practice in East Leake. He is a partner with the Village Health Group for three days a week. He has also worked in commissioning and leadership roles, became a GP trainer and completed a healthcare executive MBA.
Neil has enjoyed teaching and training for many years, leading change across Rushcliffe and helping to create PartnersHealth.
“The ethos at PICS matches my own,” explained Neil. “This new position offers a great opportunity to make a difference across the county. The way the organisation delivers health care with a ‘can do’ attitude and through designing innovations, it improves services by putting patients front and centre, using evidence-based care developed by people on the front line.”
He says that the first challenges in his new role will be to support PICS in facing the financial challenges within the NHS and the issue of health care demand outstripping supply.
“I will focus initially on getting to know and understand how each team and PICS as a whole works, meeting teams in their own environments on the ground and listening to their ideas and concerns, and what they see as the next steps.
“There is a board strategy in place, and I will be here to support that along with the rest of the management team.”
Managing Director Karen Frankland added: “We are so delighted to be welcoming Neil to the team. He will help us build on the very solid foundations that Kelvin has created, as we continue on our journey of providing the best possible care to our patients.”
